Marriages can definitely become stagnant and boring after a while if you let them. I personally don't think that it has to be like that, but it certainly can get to be that way.
When we as husbands get into this position it's very worrisome for a number of reasons. First of all you feel guilty for feeling this way about the woman you love. You may feel resentment thinking why the heck does she have to be so boring. And you also worry yourself because of the thoughts that you have of maybe trying to erase that boredom...and these thoughts weren't exactly part of your wedding vows.
So since I was where you're at, and did a ton of studying and soul searching to save my marriage I want to help you out so that this passes as quickly as possible! So here are...
3 Things to Do If You're Saying My Wife Bores Me...
First - Stop being boring yourself... My grandmother, God bless her and her wisdom, used to say that if you're bored then you must be boring. I have found that to be true.
In retrospect I have found that at the times when my life seemed the most dull and boring were definitely the times when I was being dull and boring. Bottom line is that your wife probably has much less to do with your boredom than you think. In fact she's probably bored to tears with you as well...so in that case your marriage may actually be in even worse trouble than you thought.
Scary thought right. So start being fun and exciting...it's up to you to spice life up again!
Second - Get Back to the Basics... When you fell in love with your wife there were certain characteristics that she had that made you fall in love with her. Most likely the majority of those characteristics are still there... plus some others have developed.
For instance when you met her you probably didn't have kids and didn't realize what a good mother that she would be for your children. But now, if it applies you can see that. Or other things like drive, discipline, free spirit...things that you didn't notice right away but that you admire. Write down 3 things that you loved about your wife from day one, and 3 things that you've found along the way and start concentrating on those things again.
Third - Get to Know Her Again... One of thing the things that makes people bored with marriage is that life gets in the way and we no longer get to connect either personally or even intimately.
It's time to start dating again...only start dating your wife. Lots of people say pick a date night and go out every week on that night. Forget that...that becomes just as mundane. Instead think of as many spontaneous things that you can do to surprise. If you've got some cash book a few surprise vacations, dinners out, cruises, exciting stuff like that.
If you're strapped for cash then there are tons of free things you can do. Have a picnic, seduce her in a public place and get it on in the bathroom. Have sex on the beach (the drink) and then turn that into sex on the beach (the act).
Be spontaneous in ways that you never thought of yourself doing and you'll surely get the juices flowing again, and very likely will fall in love all over again.
If you're constantly thinking "my wife bores me" then it's time to take responsibility and turn things around.
